Within Her Heart She Waits
She stands forlorn looking into the wilderness
The midday sun comforting her sad emptiness
Within her heart she waits her true loves return
Foreseeing the time when he holds her in his arms
But her time alone will soon come to pass
As his journey will soon be at an end
And her heart shall wait no more

Joan Baez sang a song that always makes me cry. To me it is terribly profound. I believe the title is “My John Riley.” It expresses a small story on the theme a lonely heart, but moreso the miracle of love that can bear a great burden and finally be both profoundly and poignantly fulfilled.
